Artist: Heather Joy Miller

Work: “Secret Whispers”

Encaustic painting, also known as hot wax painting, involves using heated beeswax to which colored pigments are added. In her own words, Heather describes her process:

“My work is driven by the intuitive journey of discovering the reminiscent through process rather than rendering an explicit space. My intention is to spark personal recollections in the viewer from an unconventional perspective, I’m communicating more of a memory than a representation. Though the fluid and sculptural qualities of wax , I build up, scrap, tear, and burn down multiple layers to reveal internal compositions brought out only by this tactile and physical experience.”
