Artist: Martin Shinn

Martin Shinn grew up in the South Bay of California and has always had a love of the surrounding beaches and ocean. He enjoys windsurfing on the beaches of California and Hawaii, and equally enjoys painting the beautiful, inspirational coastlines of Laguna, Monterey and Maui.

Martin’s father was a commercial artist, and has enjoyed drawing and painting since he was in grade school. Martin has studied painting with notable artists Marcia Burtt, Cynthia Britain and John Eagle, who have all been invaluable mentors.

Martin’s wife, Teresa, is an accomplished photographer, and they both love being out in nature together, practicing their crafts.

Each month LPAPA presents a new juried art exhibition at its “LPAPA in Residence” gallery located at the Forest & Ocean Gallery in Laguna Beach. The gallery creates opportunities for our artist members from across the country to show their work in our thriving art colony, and it provides LPAPA with the opportunity for our nonprofit art organization to connect with our community, supporters and art lovers.

RON CAMPBELL, BEATLES YELLOW SUBMARINE ANIMATOR & BEATLES SATURDAY MORNING TV CARTOON SERIES DIRECTOR TO APPEAR LIVE, PAINTING, EXHIBITING & TALKING CARTOONS AT FOREST & OCEAN GALLERY FOR A 3-DAY POP-UP SHOW.

In 1964 the Beatles invaded the United States, performing for 73 million people on the Ed Sullivan Show and dominating the US pop charts for years. Now over five decades later, the Fab Four continue to be the most celebrated musical group in Rock history. And Beatlemania is alive and well….just this Fall, the Beatles released a live CD of their Hollywood Bowl concerts and director Ron Howard premiered a documentary on the Fab Four’s touring years!

Ron will showcase his original Beatles cartoon paintings created specially for the show and create new Beatles pop art paintings at the exhibit. In addition, Campbell will showcase paintings based on the beloved cartoon characters that were part of his 50-year career. The exhibit is free and all works are available for purchase.

Campbell has also been involved with some of the most beloved cartoons including, Scooby Doo, Winnie The Pooh, Krazy Kat, George of the Jungle, The Jetsons, The Flintstones, the Smurfs, Goof Troop, Rugrats, Ed, Edd & Eddy and dozens more. Campbell’s former studio was awarded a Peabody and an Emmy for his work in children’s television. Since retiring after a 50-year career, he has been painting subjects always based on the animated cartoons he has helped bring to the screen. With particular emphasis on The Beatles, he shows his Cartoon Pop Art in galleries worldwide.

 

Campbell will also be exhibiting artwork featuring other beloved cartoon characters that encompass his 50-year career in Children’s Television such as Scooby Doo, the Smurfs, Rugrats, Winnie the Pooh, Flintstones, Jetsons, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & more. ALL WORKS ARE AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE.
